2020 there was Covid and things ceased. We did though have a great Chistmas Fayre with Father Christmas for the kiddies, This was followed  the following day with Free Disco for the older children.  So Christmas was a success after all.

2019 was a quiet year. The Christmas Fair was very successful with Father Christmas giving out presents to the young childen. This was followd the day after with a free Disco for the older children which went own very well indeed.

2018 was a good year for our regular group sessions with the addition in September of a Yoga class, which proved to be very popular.

We previously had a crafts club but unfortunately this closed through  ill health. Is anyone in the Community interested in starting another one or maybe just  Knit and Natter group.

SCROLL DOWN a long way FOR AN OVERVIEW OF FFYNNONGROYW

***********************************************

Ffynnongroyw, on the A548 coast road, is a small village following the contours of the bay running between Point of Ayr and Mostyn Docks.  The beach is a conservation area of natural and scientific interest with numerous sea birds using it due to its mud flats and cockle beds. The village is backed by woodland and farmland; a lovely area to explore.

An ex-mining village, with many of the local men having worked down  the Point of Ayr underwater coal mine - the mine going beneath the sea and River Dee.  It was in production from 1887 to 1996 when cheaper imported coal led to its closure.

The name Ffynnongroyw means  'clear well'. It is said that a group of sailors, shipwrecked in the Dee Estuary, came ashore, found the well of lovely clear water and named the area Ffynnongroyw. The well was the only means of clean water for the village until the early 1900s.

The Parish Church of All Saints is on the main street.  It is shared with the mother parish of Llannnasa.  Sunday service is 9.30 am.  (Dog training classes are held in the Church Hall)

The Community Centre is across from the church and next to the Railway Inn.

There is a doctors 'surgery which is connected to the main surgery in Prestatyn, with a number of doctors in attendance on a daily basis

There are two public houses and a hotel in the village:

The Railwayhttp://railwayinnffynnongroyw.yolasite.com  with its lovely open fire, and The Farmers, which is a  veritable art gallery of photos of old Ffynnongroyw and the Point of Ayr Collery.   These buildings are all on the main street.

At the entrance to Garth Lane is the residential Llinigar Inn and Restaurant. It has a function room for business meetings and small family gatherings.

There was also a  public house on the immediate outskirts of the village - the historic Garth Mill.  This has now closed and is a private home. This is up Garth Lane, a very pleasant riverside walk.  There are lovely woodland walks from the back of the Garth Mill.

The village has a half-hourly bus service between Rhyl and Chester.

It has a Post Office and General Store and a Chinese Take-away and the very popular WalkandTalk charity shop for abused women.

There is a well attended bowling club and a local football team.  There is also a visiting library.

There is a small Residential Mobile Home Park in Ffynnongroyw with lovely seaward and country views.  A very well run park and well recommended! Click on this link to see it. http://thevicaragepark.com
